DataWeb installed the first ever, outdoor kiosk in the world, in Stockholm,
in 1998. Since then numerous projects and kiosk implementations
have followed. Our latest developments are focused on Wi-Fi
Metropolitan Networks and applications and Wi-Fi enabled public
kiosks. |

Sheffield Kiosk Network
and City Application

The
first kiosk in Sheffield was installed in 2000. The kiosk
network, which has now more than 30 kiosks, provides
Council and City Information in the street and in other
popular locations: libraries, Job Centers, NHS locations and
others.

The
outdoor kiosks have been design to integrate in JCDecaux
advertising columns.

The
What's On Direct Sheffield service is part of the kiosk application
and became a popular guide to events and attractions in
Sheffield.

The
kiosk application also allows free Internet access, free video
email and is
VOIP telephony enabled.

During
the past years the kiosks have been successfully used for
electronic voting in the Sheffield local elections and provide
direct access to job centre vacancies..

Aberdeen iKiosk Network started in April 2006 and
combines both outdoor Umbrella Kiosks and indoor glass kiosks.
The outdoor kiosks are located in popular locations in
Aberdeen city center, the indoor ones are in the University, in
the Royal General Hospital and in the Police headquarters.

The
outdoor Umbrella kiosks have an outstanding
stylish design, that maximizes
the service visibility and the functionality.

The
Aberdeen kiosk network provides a city application with
diverse information related to Council news, What's On Direct
Aberdeen - a comprehensive events and attractions city guide, transport
and tourism information, local life etc.

concept of a scaleable metropolitan Mesh Wi-Fi Network.

EC Project
Satin 7 - Satellite enabled
kiosk network

Public
DataWeb was a main partner in the EC Satin 7 project consortium, between
2000 and 2004, providing the project kiosk environment.
-
Satin
7 was an EC IST research project aimed at proving the
concept of a very large kiosk remote network, linked to
satellite Internet connections. The project also successfully
researched and implemented live video multicast
streaming on public kiosks via satellite.

Also
developed and demonstrated was a Secure VSAT/Internet EVoting
end to end solution.
