Urban Inclusion - Aberdeen, Torry
Torry is an area in Aberdeen with special ' E' Inclusion needs.
Digital Inclusion systems in the heart of the neighborhood have been implemented by Aberdeen City Council as an extension to its successful Umbrella public access services that operate in the city centre.
The satellite system provides services for underprivileged locations.
Outside the Library stands an outdoor Umbrella kiosk that provides 24x7 access to community and council services as well as VOIP telephony, internet access and a wireless access MESH at the Community Centre there is a further indoor kiosk.

The service comprises of simplified touch screen accessibility features and enhanced navigation facilities.
Local residents and local organisations are already utilising the Free Internet access and this feature alone is beginning to address the 'E' inclusion and digital divide issues in the locality.

At the community centre there is an indoor kiosk and outside the Library stands a Public Dataweb umbrella kiosk.

Municipal Wireless goes a stage further in Torry and becomes 'COMMUNITY WIFI' with the Public DataWeb wireless MESH network, operating in the neighborhood and giving free internet access to the community.

High usage statistics from the network logs prove that small communities, often those without computers and therefore inside the 'Digital Divide' can have all the benefits of 'E' inclusion from localised MESH installations.
